Pastor's Bio
Elder Gerald A. Patterson, is a native of Milwaukee Wisconsin, where he was called into the ministry at the age of 15, by pushing the wheelchair and carrying of the Bible and personal belongs of the late Pastor Samuel L. Conner of International Deliverance Center Church of God in Christ, Milwaukee WI, not knowing this would be the beginning of his calling into the protocol ministry.
During Elder Patterson’s military career, he would continue his service to God’s people whenever he was afforded the opportunity, working in various churches to include his uncle, the late Supt Ohma Edwards, Duncan Memorial church of God in Christ, Houston TX.
In 1999, Elder Patterson moved to San Diego CA, and became a member of Fountain of Life Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of then Supt J.A. Blake Jr. Administrative Assistant, where he continued to work in the ministry of protocol and supporting Supt J.A. Blake Jr. within the church as needed and driving him to and from Los Angeles CA to the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southern California meetings under the leadership of Bishop Charles E. Blake Sr. prior to his elevation to Presiding Bishop & Chief Apostle of Church of God in Christ. Inc, until he was transferred to Hawaii 2001, where he continued in the ministry of protocol under the leadership of the late Bishop Paul L Martin Prayer Center Church of God in Christ, Ewa Beach, Hawaii, until he departed the U.S. Navy in December 2004.
Elder Patterson continue to work in his ministry within Shackelford Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, Los Angeles CA, under the leadership of the late Pastor Charles Smith Sr. as he would continue to drive down to San Diego from Los Angles to pick up Supt Blake for Jurisdictional meetings, and support as needed.
In 2011, Elder Patterson was asked to take a position in Maryland, and move his family from Los Angeles CA to Maryland, and became a member of God’s House of Refuge Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor James L. Bell Sr, where he continued his ministry in protocol and began his Armor bearer/Adjutant and security training under the leadership of Supt Wille R. Hunt during the C.L. MCCoy Jr. Memorial District training where he also continues to support the district. Elder Patterson is committed and has always felt the need and obligation to serve and protect God’s people as well as to” Sanctify the Leader in the eyes of the people,” as he looks forward to continuing to serve and supporting the Maryland Central Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, under the leadership of our Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop Carl A. Peirce Sr. and his leadership committee.
In September 2019 the Spirit of the Lord spoke to Elder Patterson, that it was time, after he had previously ignored his calling for over 20 years, will numerous opportunities to get it right. In May of 2019 before a church of over 1000 people and 2,300 online, he stated that he didn't want to be a pastor. However, God gave him another chance, and was given the name, God's Second Chance Ministries in September 2019.
Pastor Patterson is married to his lovely wife Dawn Patterson of Belize City, Belize, and shares 3 spoiled children, as well as 3 spoiled grandsons
Church History
God's Second Chance Ministries was established in December 2019.
The Spirit of the Lord spoke to Elder Patterson, that it was time after he had ignored his calling for over 20 years and in May of 2019 before a church of over 1000 people and 2,300 online, he stated that he didn't want to be a pastor and soon afterwards was given the name, God's Second Chance Ministries in September 2019. The church held its first service on January 5, 2020, in Leonardtown, Maryland and currently holds services in Lusby Maryland.
