Church History
The vision of The Covenant Church Church of God in Christ was revealed to Pastor Michael Hunt in January of 2019, while in Atlanta, Georgia visiting a friend. That weekend, Elder Mike asked the Lord to confirm the call through someone he did not know. That Sunday, Elder Mike was invited to lead Praise and Worship at his friend’s church. During that service, the Pastor prophesied to him. He told him that God had called him to Pastor. Before finishing the prophecy, he imparted this: “People won’t understand the methods, but they won’t be able to argue the results!” After shut-in and prayer, the Lord confirmed His will. Following approval and complete support from his Pastor, Superintendent Willie R. Hunt, Elder Mike and Lady Latashia birthed the ministry which is now known as, “The Covenant Church of God in Christ”.
In June of 2019, God instructed Pastor Mike to plant TCC in our state capital, Annapolis, Maryland. On February 12, 2020, Pastor Mike and Lady Latashia launched the ministry with Bible Study, obeying the command from God. The first lesson was entitled, “Coming Home!”. During the pandemic, TCC was forced to interrupt in person bible study. Some would consider this a challenge, but for TCC it was just the beginning of God’s plan!! Under these unfavorable circumstances, the Lord began to share, with Pastor Mike, the upcoming phases of TCC; our NEXT.
Pastor Mike and Lady Latashia officially began their first Sunday morning worship service on September 5th, 2021, in Annapolis, Maryland. However, it was not church as usual. Instead of a traditional morning service, TCC offered prayer and distributed food and water to needy families in the community. TCC fed and clothed over 200 families in 2022. In efforts of continuous support to our community, a new initiative emerged, “TCC for the Streets”. Our motto is, “We make a covenant to serve God and our community with our whole heart.” TCC and our many ministry partners are committed to serving and impacting the communities in Anne Arundel County and all around the world.
We believe God has only just begun writing the story of TCC, so for now we say, To Be Continued!
